Hemp for Your Pets & Horses

The Seed your animals Need!

What is Hemp Seed?

For starters hemp is NOT marijuana! Hemp is not a drug and even though it is a cousin to marijuana, clinical tests prove that there is no THC (the phsycoactive chemical in marijuana) detected in hemp seed after it is deemed unviable.
Hemp has been dubbed as nature's most nutritionally balanced plant in the plant kingdom. Out of 3 million edible plants that grow on earth, no other single plant source can compare with the nutritional value of hemp seed. Hemp has all of the Essential fatty acids (EFA's) to promote good health not only in humans but pets and horses as well. Hemp is the most unsaturated oil known and contains a balanced ratio of Omega 6 to Omega 3 (3:1)  and GLA (gamma linolenic acid) , these are the good oils that provide the optimum  anti inflammatory properties as well as provide good health in animals and humans.

Other properties include:

  •  Hemp is superior in antioxidants such as Vitamin E, Vitamin C and as well as an interesting array of other vitamins and minerals
  •  Hemp protein contains all 20 known amino acids including the 9 essential amino acids in which the body cannot produce and so is required in the diets of animals and humans.
  •  Hemp is more easily digested than flax or soy
  •  Does not contain trypsin inhibitors, so the body can absorb all the nutrients unlike soy
  • Hemp is grown without the use of herbicides and pesticides and is not genetically modified (GMO) in comparison to Canola oil,  Hemp is Gluten free, Vegetarian approved and Kosher certified
  •  The benefits of hemp are complimented by its great taste which is very similar to sunflower seeds. This explains why birds and other animals big and small love hemp.
  •  If you combined chia seeds, wheatgrass and flax into one plant the result would be hemp seed    Hemp seed and hemp seed oil are recommended by veterinarians, dog groomers and dog and horse trainers world wide

Hemp Seed Oil vs Other oils

Only Hemp seed oil contains Omega 6, Omega 3 and GLAOnly Hemp seed oil contains 75-80% polyunsaturated fatty acids - highest in the plant kingdom and unique among seed oils. Though flax oil is high in Omega 3, the perfect balance of hemp's EFAs allows the body to best digest the excellent properties in hemp oil.
Research shows that Omega 3 and 6 work in combination with the body and an excess of one can lead to a depletion of the other. This can occur with using fish or flax oil exclusively. Long term supplementation with omega 3 may lead to a deficiency of omega 6 and reduce the anti inflammatory potential of Linoleic acid and its metabolites. Likewise, excessive doses of omega 6 can lead to a depletion of omega 3 and its beneficial effects.
Extensive studies have demonstrated that many common illnesses are related to deficiencies or imbalances of specific fatty acids in the body. Symptoms are often related to a lack of Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids and their derivatives, the postaglandins. Most people or animals eating a healthful diet, one that includes a balanced ratio of essential fatty acids, also have healthy skin and a strong immune system. Yet some individuals may experience shortages in specific fatty acids or their metabolites due to dysfunctional enzyme systems or other inhibitions in their metabolic pathways caused by genetic, immune-system-related, or even environmental factors. It has been proven in several clinical studies that dietary supplementation with EFAs or their metabolites (such as GLA) will often prevent or even cure these illnesses. Since hemp seed oil contains both EFAs in a desirable balance while also providing two of the EFA metabolites, it is a good resource for the prevention and treatment of certain illnesses.
